How protected is your data?

Unfortunately, my house was broken into several weeks back.  Several things got stolen including a laptop.  Fortunately my desktop PC managed to not get stolen.  I realized very quickly that I could have lost quite a bit more had my desktop been stolen.  The computer itself is worth next to nothing.  It's a 5 year old pc in a plain beige box that I built while I was in college.  What I care about most on this machine is the data.

The data I could have potentially lost is for the most part impossible to replace.  There are years of pictures, taxes, financials, etc.  While I could get along without that stuff, I wouldn't want to.  The very next day I signed up for Mozy.com and I haven't looked back.  For $4.95/month you get unlimited encrypted off-site backup.  My data has always been duplicated and protected provided I still have possession of the machine.  I had just never considered somebody stealing my stuff before.  For me, mozy is a no-brainer.  I encourage you to go check it out.  If you are skeptical, they offer 2GB of free storage so that you can try it out.
