Help Me Help You
At this point I've been blogging for about a year. Looking back at my posts, it's obvious that I'm all over the place topic-wise. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it really reflects who I am. My interests move around and I apparently like to rant about the stupid things I see around me. I'm not sure that will ever change.
Here's where I need your help. I need to know what my audience (Yep, I'm talking to you.) care about. It looks like I have about 300 daily visitors who seem to gravitate towards my jQuery plugins. I do meddle in javascript, but I'm also a c# developer by day in the healthcare industry who does quite a bit of data management via Oracle and MySql. Even though I'm a geek, I have quite a few non-tech interests that I intend to talk about as the urge strikes me.
If you (Is anyone out there?) are reading this, then I'd love for you to comment back to this post and introduce yourself. I'd like to know what you are interested in so that I can direct my blogging efforts. It doesn't matter who you are, be you a developer from the other side of the world, a friend from high school or a relative (I'm talking to you Ashley); I'd really appreciate your feedback. If no one comments back, then I guess I'll just keep rambling on about whatever the hell I feel like. Consider yourself warned.
So, let's get on with it. Roll call!
1st post. w00t! Being on the geeky side myself I tend to go for the tech posts, but there is always room for a nascar on espn bash-fest.

Hi,
I am visiting your blog for jQuery things. Anyway you should keep posting “about whatever the hell you feel like” - because that is what makes a blog - you.

Hi,
Found your blog while reading up on jQuery related plugins and have been back on many occasions just to see what you are up to. As long as you keep posting the content doesn’t really matter (to me). You have a lot to say (some of which I agree with fully) and it’s nice to read about other geeks out there! Happy holidays and keep up the great work!
I just found your masked input plugin. It was the top search for ‘telephone mask jquery’.
Thanks.
I’d like eventually to work in Healthcare IT as well. You may have noticed revolutionhealth.com. It’s a good start for providing transparency to the big mess that is healthcare these days.
Thanks again
I check your blog out from time to time, mainly to see what you and Ash are up to. A lot of this tech-stuff makes no sense to me, so I skim.
Thanks for the feedback you guys. I assumed that my audience(all 5 of you, heh) was mostly tech oriented. It never hurts to ask though.
My posts have been more tech oriented because of the side projects that I do from time to time. It kind of comes in waves as my interests change. Sometimes it’s very hard for me to work on development side projects at night considering I already spend 8 hours a day doing the very same thing.
One of my goals for 2008 is to post more often here. I’ll get into that in another post coming soon with a bit more detail.
Once again, thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for your plugin, it is really a good one.
But I’d like to know if you have any mask option for right aligned fields (such as numeric fields for float values). The default behavior (just setting .mask to the field) makes the user start typing from left to right.
Hey Josh,
Good blog. I found it looking at jQuery mask’s, but was pleasantly surprised to see that you are a c# developer. I work in .NET as well.
Thanks for the good reads!
Hi,
I’ve found this page through codeproject daily mail. I’m trying to learn c#
Can you be my C# mentor/teacher/helper…
I’ve done alot of C, Perl, VB, etc… Know some OO programming but not realy good.
So, what you say?
Regards
Josh, what do you charge, like $200.00 a hour or something like that?
Hi josh,
I found your blog via jQuery Masked Input plug-in a while ago. Today i was looking for a money mask and found your blog again (and this article of course). I added your blog to my reader.
I’m so sorry about last month robbing issues. I hope you recover quickly.
BTW I’m 242 lbs myself and I’m a developer working all day on a comfy chair. I had several failures about loosing weight. Today is my first day for a new start and this time I’m very determined.
